v10: Energy & Grid Signals — The Seventh Dimension
WakeUpNeo.ai adds a dedicated energy and grid security signal — tracking power grid disruptions, nuclear incidents, renewable shortage, and LNG supply constraints from Grid Status Blog, NRC News, Energy Monitor, and PV Magazine. The energy score is the mean of the top-10 scored energy articles and carries 10% weight in the new v10 blend. All seven signals are now rebalanced for equal visibility: 27% geo + 16% health + 16% market + 14% cyber + 9% climate + 8% space + 10% energy.
Six versions of WakeUpNeo.ai have tracked global stress across news, health, markets, cyber, climate, and space. But one dimension of critical infrastructure has been absent: energy supply, grid stability, and nuclear safety. Power grids are the nervous system of modern civilisation — disruptions cascade instantly to hospitals, water treatment, data centers, and transportation. Renewable energy transitions, LNG supply shocks, and nuclear incidents are reshaping global energy politics in real time. v10 adds a dedicated seventh signal to capture them.
Four new sources
| Source | Veracity | Poll interval | Coverage focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grid Status Blog | 0.92 | 15 min | US electricity grid operations and analysis. Covers transmission constraints, peak demand, renewable generation mix, and grid stress events. Real-time insights into US power market operations. |
| NRC News (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) | 0.98 | 15 min | Official US nuclear safety advisories and enforcement actions. Highest-veracity source for nuclear incident reporting, license violations, and reactor safety updates. |
| Energy Monitor | 0.88 | 30 min | Global energy market and infrastructure news — oil supply disruptions, LNG market stress, power outages, and energy policy impacts. Covers OPEC decisions, sanctions effects, and geopolitical energy conflicts. |
| PV Magazine | 0.85 | 30 min | Renewable energy and grid modernization. Covers solar/wind deployment, battery storage, grid integration challenges, and energy transition policy. Supply chain and manufacturing disruption intelligence. |
The energy scoring pool
Energy articles are scored using the same four-factor composite as all other signals — urgency (40%), sentiment (30%), veracity (20%), recency (10%) — with a v10 urgency lexicon expanded to include energy-specific keywords: grid, blackout, outage, reactor, nuclear, meltdown, renewable shortage, capacity stress, fuel shortage, energy crisis, containment, LNG shortage, load shedding, rolling blackout, grid failure, nuclear incident, and several others. The energy score is the mean of the top-10 scored energy articles in the 72-hour window. Like health and climate, the tighter pool (top-10 versus top-100 for geo) ensures acute grid events and nuclear incidents register prominently while routine market reports don't inflate the score.
New blend — v10
score = 0.27 × GeoSignal + 0.16 × HealthSignal + 0.16 × MarketStress + 0.14 × CyberSignal + 0.09 × ClimateSignal + 0.08 × SpaceWeather + 0.10 × EnergySignal
All signals are rebalanced to make room for energy. Geo drops from 30% to 27%, health and market from 18% to 16%, and cyber and space from 15% and 9% to 14% and 8%. Climate stays at 9% (was 10% in v9 but shifts to 9% in the new balance). Energy enters at 10%, equal to health. The total is 100%. As with all signals, missing data is handled gracefully — if the energy feeds are unavailable, the energy weight is redistributed proportionally across the remaining signals so the final score always sums to 1.
| Signal | v9 weight | v10 weight | Pool size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geopolitical News | 30% | 27% | Top 100 geo articles |
| Health / Outbreak | 18% | 16% | Top 10 health articles |
| Market Stress | 18% | 16% | 4 financial indicators (VIX, Gold, Treasury, WTI) |
| Cyber / Infrastructure | 15% | 14% | Top 5 cyber articles |
| Climate / Environmental | 10% | 9% | Top 10 climate articles |
| Space Weather | 9% | 8% | NOAA Kp + GOES X-ray flux |
| Energy / Grid | — | 10% | Top 10 energy articles (new) |
Why now
The global energy landscape is in acute transition. Renewable energy deployment is accelerating, LNG supply chains are strained by geopolitical conflict, nuclear policy is debated in real time, and grid operators are managing peak loads with an increasingly volatile mix of renewable and fossil generation. Acute energy events — rolling blackouts, nuclear incidents, LNG supply disruptions — have direct ripple effects on geopolitical stability, market stress, and public health. A meter designed to capture global risk cannot ignore the seventh dimension of infrastructure resilience. v10 completes the picture: seven independent signals aggregated into a single 0–10 risk score.
